“Fishers of Men” Coloring Page – Matthew 4:19 Scripture Art

Description

📖 Jesus Calls His Disciples: Becoming Fishers of Men (Matthew 4)

One sunny morning, Jesus was walking along the sandy shores of the Sea of Galilee. He looked out over the sparkling water and saw two hardworking brothers, Simon Peter and Andrew. They were throwing their heavy nets into the lake because they were commercial fishermen—catching fish was their daily job, their livelihood, and everything they knew.

Jesus stopped on the shore, looked directly into their eyes, and gave them the invitation of a lifetime: “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people” (Matthew 4:19). The Bible says that immediately—without waiting or making excuses—Peter and Andrew dropped their nets and followed Jesus!

What did Jesus mean by ‘fishing for people’? He didn’t mean catching people with hooks and nets! He meant casting a net of God’s love, sharing the good news of grace, and helping people find their way home to heaven. Just like Peter and Andrew, Jesus calls every boy and girl to be His disciples today. When we invite a friend to church or show kindness to someone who feels left out, we are casting Jesus’ net of love!

💡 3 Sunday School Discussion Questions

• 1. Question for Recall: What were Peter and Andrew doing when Jesus first walked by and called them? (They were casting their fishing nets into the Sea of Galilee!)
• 2. Question for Heart Reflection: Peter and Andrew left their boats immediately to follow Jesus. What does it mean to put Jesus first in our lives today?
• 3. Question for Real-Life Application: Who is one friend at school, sports practice, or in your neighborhood that you can invite to Sunday School or tell about Jesus this week?

✂️ Hands-On Activity & Coloring Ideas

Turn this scripture art into an evangelism challenge! Have children color each fish swimming in the net a different bright color (tropical orange, sea green, electric blue). Inside each fish, have kids write the first name of a friend or family member they want to pray for and share Jesus’ love with this month.

✝️ Closing Teacher Prayer

“Lord Jesus, thank You for inviting us to be Your disciples and fishers of men. Fill our hearts with Your love so we can share Your truth with everyone we meet. Give us courage to invite our friends and shine Your light wherever we go. In Your holy name, Amen.”
