πŸ“– The Story of Noah and the Great Ark (Genesis 6–7)

When the world was filled with selfishness and disobedience, there was one man whose heart stayed true to the Lord. His name was Noah. Noah listened when God spoke, and God gave him an extraordinary assignment: build a massive wooden ark three stories high with rooms inside and a single large window on top.

For decades, Noah chopped wood, measured planks, and coated the ship with pitch while his neighbors pointed and laughed. There was no water nearby and no rain falling from the sky, but Noah kept hammering because he trusted God’s blueprint. When the Ark was ready, God said, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation” (Genesis 7:1).

Then, the most amazing parade in history began! Giraffes with tall necks, stomping elephants, fluttering sparrows, and playful lions arrived two by two, guided by God’s gentle hand right up the loading ramp. Once Noah, his family, and all the animals were tucked safely inside, the Lord Himself shut the door. The rains came, but God kept every creature inside safe in the palm of His hand.

πŸ’‘ 3 Sunday School Discussion Questions

  • 1. Question for Recall: Why did God choose to save Noah and his family inside the Ark? (Because Noah walked faithfully with God and obeyed Him even when it was hard!)
  • 2. Question for Heart Reflection: Imagine what it smelled like and sounded like inside the Ark with all those animals! How do you think Noah felt knowing God was keeping them safe?
  • 3. Question for Real-Life Application: When everyone around you at school or on the playground is making poor choices, how can Noah’s story give you courage to stand out and do what’s right?

βœ‚οΈ Hands-On Activity & Coloring Ideas

Encourage children to color each animal pair with matching patterns! After coloring, have kids draw their own favorite family pet walking up the wooden gangplank into the open door. At the top of the page, use bright primary colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) to draw God’s promise rainbow across the sky.

✝️ Closing Teacher Prayer

“Dear Lord, thank You for Noah’s faithful obedience and for the loving promise of the rainbow. When peer pressure makes it hard to do what is right, give us brave hearts to stand out in the storm and follow Your voice. Keep our families safe in Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
