πŸ“– The Story of Daniel in the Lions’ Den for Kids (Daniel 6:16–23)

In the ancient Persian empire, Daniel served King Darius with complete integrity, wisdom, and excellence. Because God’s favor was upon Daniel, the other jealous leaders tricked the king into signing a royal decree: for thirty days, anyone who prayed to any god or man other than King Darius would be thrown into the den of lions.

Daniel knew the decree had been signed, but his unshakable faith never wavered. Just as he had done every day of his life, Daniel went home to his upstairs room, opened his windows facing toward Jerusalem, got down on his knees three times a day, and prayed, giving thanks to his God.

When the leaders caught Daniel praying, King Darius was heartbroken, but the law could not be changed. Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, and a heavy stone was rolled over the mouth of the pit. The king spent the night fasting and sleepless. At daybreak, Darius rushed to the den and called out in anguish, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God been able to rescue you from the lions?”

Out of the dark den came Daniel’s clear, joyful voice: “My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight.” (Daniel 6:22). Daniel was lifted out without a single scratch, because he had trusted in his God!
