πŸ“– The Story of David & Goliath for Kids (1 Samuel 17)

In the rugged Valley of Elah, two great armies stood facing each other across the hills. The Philistine army boasted a nine-foot giant warrior named Goliath, who wore heavy bronze armor and shouted fierce insults day after day, defying the armies of the living God. King Saul and the Israelite soldiers were terrified.

Then arrived David, a young shepherd boy sent by his father Jesse to bring fresh bread and roasted grain to his older brothers. When David heard Goliath’s booming defiance, his heart stirred with holy courage: “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (1 Samuel 17:26).

King Saul tried to dress young David in heavy royal bronze armor and a metal helmet, but David could not even walk in them. David laid the heavy armor down, picked up his wooden shepherd’s staff, and chose five smooth stones from the rushing brook. With his leather sling held in his hand, David ran toward the giant battle line, proclaiming bold faith: “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty! The battle is the LORD’S!”
